FIFA v PES Mind Games Round 1

The battle between EA's FIFA series amd the Konami beast that is Pro Evolution Soccer has been raging for some time. Like the Mortal Kombat v Street Fighter arguements of yester year, PES and FIFA each have their own fans.

EA have been talking to MCV, a trade magazine here in the UK, and EA Marketing Manager Dan Holman couldn't resist a little snipe,

"I'm happy to say that we're comfortably on top in the whole FIFA vs Pro Evolution Soccer battle, our market share has kept on increasing over the past three years, and more and more core gamers are being converted to FIFA all the time."

Hmm. Certainly the gameplay gap has narrowed between the two, as EA has striven to copy the PES formula. But more sales do not, we would suggest, mean a better game. EA will still need to pull out all the stops if they are to exclipse PES as the more discerning gamers number one footie game.
